Only officially launched at Rose Day, the Wild About Goostrey project is proving even more popular than hoped with pledges to transform the village into a wildlife haven.
With attractive plaques to display in gardens and meadows up for grabs by anyone taking part in the project, the pledges are “coming in thick and fast,” say the organisers.
“Urbanisation of gardens is the enemy of wildlife but aiming for a country look with areas left alone to grow on their own or even planted out in a wild-friendly way will stop the loss of habitat for creatures of all kinds,” said a project supporter.
