Road Closure – Blackden Lane between 22 & 24 May 2019

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

S14 (2) ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Cheshire East Borough Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers issues this notice temporarily to prohibit traffic in the following length of road:-

Blackden Lane, Dane Valley Ward, Holmes Chapel, CW4 8 from the junction with Bomish Lane to the junction with Cross Lane.

The alternative route will be via the following streets: – Cross Lane, Bomish Lane, Bridge Lane

Pedestrian access to any premises situated within the temporary closure will be maintained at all times. Vehicular access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and residents where possible.

The closure is necessary to enable Scottish Power to carry out overline electricity works.

It is anticipated that the works will take place on the following date(s): Wednesday 22nd May 2019 to Friday 24th May 2019.

This notice will become operative on Wednesday 22nd May 2019 for a period of 5 days or for such less time as is necessary to enable the works to be completed.

New Tree Warden for Goostrey

The Parish Council would like to thank Thelma Carter for volunteering to become the Goostrey Tree Warden.

In this role, Thelma will keep the Parish Council advised of any concerns regarding;

  • the removal or mistreatment of trees with Tree Protection Orders on them
  • the replacement of trees with Tree Protection Orders on them which have been removed
  • trees which merit having a Tree Protection Order on them

Station Bridge Traffic Lights – Update

Cheshire East Highways have informed us that the scheme to install a safe area for pedestrians to cross the Station Bridge and traffic lights is on hold.  We received the following explanation directly from Cheshire East Highways last week.

“The scheme was programmed in to commence on site in March 2019, however after meeting with the Contractors on site to discuss the buildability aspects of the scheme, it became apparent that it would not be possible to implement the scheme as per the original design.  This is mainly down to the complexities of the site in terms of the highway boundary extents.

We have therefore had no option but to place the scheme on hold while we investigate other options in order to ensure that we design and deliver a workable solution that is safe for all road users.

I appreciate this is not the news you wanted to hear, however I can assure you that we are working hard to explore other options to enable the scheme to be constructed”.

We are extremely disappointed in this new delay, however, we are in regular contact with Cheshire East Highways to establish when a “buildable” scheme can be implemented.

Bank View – Road Repairs 11th December 2018

We have been informed by our CEC Highways contact that the bell mouth of Bank View will be repaired on Tuesday 11th December, this is not one of the scheduled works on the CEC Highways website.

As there are other road surface repairs required along the length of Bank View we have asked if these can be repaired at the same time but as yet we have not received a reply.

Councillor Graham Lenihan

You may be aware that Councillor Graham Lenihan sadly passed away on Friday 30th November, after a short illness.  We send our sincere condolences to his wife and family, and hold them in out thoughts at this difficult time.

Graham was elected onto the Parish Council in May 2011 and sat on most of the Council’s committees during his two terms of office.  He had a warm personality, an affable nature and a great sense of humour and was always ready to volunteer for Council duties.

Graham was involved with a number of Village groups including the Goostrey Parish Archive Group and the Gooseberry Society.

He will be greatly missed by us all.

Graham’s family has asked that we publish the date and time of the funeral which will take place on 11th December 2018 at 11.00am at St Luke’s Church, Goostrey.

Everyone is welcome to attend the funeral and after at the Crown to raise a glass to Graham and bid him a fond farewell.

 

 

 

New Job Opportunity – Goostrey Village Hall Supervisor – APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

This is a combined role of operation, booking, caretaking and general management of the Village Hall on behalf of Goostrey Parish Council.

  • 10 hours per week.
  • Evenings and weekends when needed to meet needs of hirers.
  • 4 weeks paid holiday plus Bank Holidays.

  • Salary will be £5,000 per annum.  Any payment made for caretaker services (putting up and taking down chairs and tables etc) will be in addition to the salary quoted
